Marsala also known as Pantone 18-1438 has been named Pantone's 2015 Colour of the Year.
The elegant warm rich colour Marsala could be used on its own making an elegant statement to any interior or as an accent colour next to many other colours. Apparently a colour Committee meets twice throughout the year to pitch palettes concepts, debate colour trends and finally select the hue that is set to dominate.
The chosen colour is not a trend based and is determinated by the spirit of the time that resonates around the world.
Pantone Colour Institute says: " Marsala emanates a sophisticated, natural earthiness. It is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, industrial design, and interiors".
Masala is a winter autumn warm colour. We could imagine it next to a fireplace, in the colour of a ruby Italian wine, as an accent colour used in soft furnishing, velvet pillows and curtains, mixed with gold metallic bronze.
We could imagine also Marsala as the colour of the summer in Hindi interior accesories, made out of driftwood and linen mixed with soft greens and amber yellows.
